The Rest Is Noise festival is one of Southbank Centre's most ambitious classical music undertakings to date -- a year-long series of concerts and events bringing to life Alex Ross's widely respected survey of 20th century music, The Rest Is Noise.

This trailer for the year-long festival was constructed with footage from 100 years of the 20th Century, including the Wright Brothers first powered flight, the death of suffragette Emily Davison, the Titanic, Albert Einstein, Hitler, Stalin and Lenin, the bomb, the counter-cultural movements of the 60s, Stockhausen, Reich and Eno, Reagan, Gorbachev and Bush, the dawn of computing, Benizir Buhutto, Aung San Suu Kyi, Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela.

A Room For London

"High up on the roof of Queen Elizabeth Hall, a riverboat appears to have come to rest..."

A Room for London is a one-bedroom installation, available to rent by the public for night-long stays throughout 2012. During the year it is also transmitting a programme of writing, performance and music.

Here, our film documents the creative processes behind the installation and follows the building of the 'boat' from a bare steel structure, to being lifted onto the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank
